I want to be a Vegetarian!

We had been living in Beijing for six months, when my eight year old daughter Alex announced that she was vegetarian. Thinking it was an ' eight year girl phase' that I may have missed in my parenting books, I thought it would last a few days or weeks, and she would return to the carnivore pack. Four months later, with no meat intake I realised it wasn't just a passing phase. I contacted Marcelle for advice. I was concerned about meeting all her dietary requirements for a growing body. I was also desperate for some attractive and easy ideas for meals, as I was finding meal times a challenge catering for every-ones needs.

Marcelle designed two 'child-friendly', educational, fun and practical sessions which helped us both understand nutritionally and on a life-style basis, what it is to be a vegetarian. Marcelle offered Alex simple, yet effective ways to supplement her lunches with snacks. Alex now feels informed and confident in her choices, and is now a whizz at making her own hummous! Marcelle suggested children's fish oil supplements and an iron tonic, which Alex takes on a daily basis. Alex's hair and skin improved, as well as her energy levels.

Family health, especially children's health is of optimum importance, especially living in such a populated environment such as Beijing. I would recommend a consultation with Marcelle for any matters of nutritional or dietary concern, as a solid investment in your or your family's health. Louise, Beijing.

Challenging Eater

Marcelle has changed my whole family into healthy eaters. My 4-year old ate almost no protein, lived on pasta, and refused to taste anything new. Marcelle got her to taste and actually like several new proteins and meals, and gave us lots of great tips for getting her to try new foods. Now she eats much more variety and a much healthier diet – and so do I.

Marcelle gave us a new “system” for meals and snacks, that is very easy to use – she made detailed menus, recipes, and shopping lists for us, and helped us find the healthy products which are not easy to get in China. She also taught us the principles of healthy eating so we could change and add to our menus over time. Her caring, patience and willingness to adapt her services to exactly what I needed really made the difference for me. I am incredibly grateful to her! Sherri, Beijing.

Dyspraxia

I started seeing Marcelle for help with my then 3 year old son who had a variety of problems; suspected dyspraxia, constipation, pains in his knees, disrupted sleep, constant eating and poor behaviour. After a number of discussions Marcelle drafted a food protocol for him to help us implement a new diet. The protocol was clearly written, explained well (including the reasons for each suggestion) and practical. We, as a family, are still following it today, 18 months later, which obviously is very positive, and I believe we are all a lot healthier for it.

There currently seem to be many articles in the press at the moment concerning diet and I often read them and feel smug, knowing we are already doing what they suggest.

My son still has problems but they have certainly lessened as a result of his new diet. His knee pains have all but disappeared, he sleeps through the night, he now has more balanced snacks and so is not constantly raiding the fridge, his behaviour is calmer and concentration better. He is still prone to constipation but it is much more manageable.

I would heartily recommend Marcelle to anyone. She gives practical advice that can be followed easily, even in a busy family life, is understanding of problems, discreet and clearly knows what she is talking about. I am confident that my son’s diet is now the best that I can give him and no longer contributes to his problems. That is all due to advice from Marcelle. Victoria, London

“Marcelle is an excellent listener. She has a gentle, caring approach and gives you her full attention during a consultation. She very patiently guided me in improving my food choices and eating habits. She is also full of ideas for quick, nutritious meals that make healthy eating an easy option. I am very glad that I put myself in her care and highly recommend her as a nutritional therapist.” Liesel, London

Workshop - Dynamic Digestion

“Thanks for all the information! We are so committed now - it is as if I have been waiting for this all my life!”

“I really learnt a lot. I think the emphasis on family eating and children’s diet is great because we are all mums and every family has at least one fussy eater to worry about.”

“The food is brilliant, it really added to cementing what you talked about – it makes it real and gives the inspiration needed”

“Enjoyed the workshop, professionally presented, great food.”

“Food demonstration was great.

“Great workshop. Right balance of theory and practical. I especially liked the information about the mechanics of digestion. We don’t really think about how we eat, the focus seems to be more on what we eat. I found this information the most helpful to me”.

“Wow! I thought the workshop was just incredible. I thought the lunch and tasting bit was very beneficial. I feel so inspired to go home and try these recipes and come up with some of my own. I also think that including what works for you (“tips”) was key.

“Overall the workshop was particularly useful for raising awareness and giving practical ideas and solutions. Wonderful job!”

“I enjoyed having a brief description of how the digestive system works. I thought the balance was good. Tasting new foods and learning how they can be incorporated into a family meal is a practical way of educating on nutrition. Recipes are useful.”

Workshop - Family Health - Children

It was a joy to watch my two boys, learn about and experience cooking healthy food. I thought the flow of the two hours was perfect. Starting the boys cooking muffins straight away, really engaged them. Teaching them about why we eat food and how we taste food while the muffins were cooking worked well. I was amazed to see them actually eat carrots and peppers in the lunch that they had prepared. The fact that they asked for another cooking lesson at the end of the workshop is confirmation that they really enjoyed the class.

Everything was fantastic, well organised and very informative in a way that children can easily understand.
